Beyond Routine Plowing

Large Properties, Municipal or Subcontract Work? We Can Still Help.

Some snow businesses handle more than driveways — large commercial lots, municipal or HOA contracts, or subcontracting for other plow companies. Those operations are underwritten differently than a residential route, which is why being an independent agency matters: if one carrier's program doesn't fit, we go to the next one in our lineup of 30+.

Snow Removal Insurance FAQ

I just plow with my own pickup. Do I need commercial insurance?

If the truck is used for business, yes. A personal auto policy typically excludes business use, which can leave a gap in coverage after an accident.

What covers a slip-and-fall on a lot I plowed or salted?

General liability is the coverage designed for that exposure, but some policies limit or exclude snow and ice work. We check the wording before you buy so the policy matches what you actually do.

Can you provide a certificate of insurance for a property manager?

Yes. We can issue certificates and, where a contract requires it, add the property owner or manager as an additional insured.

Do my seasonal drivers need workers' comp?

In most states, workers' comp is required once you have employees, even seasonal or part-time ones. It also protects you if a driver or shoveler is hurt on the job.

Is my plow covered under my truck's auto policy?

Not always. Plows, spreaders and other attachments often need equipment coverage (inland marine) in addition to the auto policy. We review how yours are covered.
